 Formatting Tape (Tape Error)

I'm using 2 drives (Quantum DLT4000 inside)but with both drives i can't format a tape.
Whenever i try the tape unit does not do anything and TT gives me a Tape Error.
The same happens when i use my older DLT2000 unit.
Does anyone have an idea how to get this working?

Hello,
the formating function with your tapedrives is not supported.
There is then no need to format your tape.

The problem is that i've got about 250 DLT3 tapes wich are formatted as 6 Gig tapes (they have been used on a UNIX system).
The tapes can be formatted as 10 Gig tapes, wich gives an extra 4 Gig per tape.
The only way to do this now is to format the tapes (change the density code) with Arcserve and then use them with TT but it would be nicer i've i could do this directly with TT.
Could you tell me why this is not supported and do you think you can add this funtion in a future release?
